[Oz-mooney] ASIC renewal

I only asked about renewing my ASIC…..

I had no intention that it should – in a convoluted way – lead to the
involvement of a perfectly innocent dog into graft & corruption!

Sorry Christo…..

Did someone mention CASH !! ?

Careful! Wombat Gully has a vicious guard dog, and Christo doesn't take
prisoners. He pays no attention to ASICs either and no amount of cash will
change his mind.

Hey Michael,

I remember someone bragging about how reasonable costs were at Rocky.
Welcome to the real world. Even YBAF doesn't charge a minium fee per month
but if 'He' hears about Rocky he probably will. We even get charged
Airservices fees on night landings when there is no control tower operations
and it's rumoured that touch-and-goes will be charged as separate landings
at $25 each. Imagine how that would effect the cost of a attaining your PPL.
We don't have an ASIC problem as YBAF isn't considered an RPT airfield and
gate access is reasonable with touch pads to get in and out.

There's a lot of inconsistencies at airports regarding airside access eg.
Bankstown shows the gate code inside the airside gates while Archerfield
requires you to call a mobile phone number and a code will be texted back to
you.

We should all move to Wombat Gully International.

In Rockhampton where they like to rule with an iron fist, a pilot was
dressed down for allowing the wind to blow his ASIC around so that the back
was facing out. He was advised to show it correctly or he would be escorted
off the field. The same has happened at Maroochydore. Any other
misdemeanours here and they confiscate your ASIC (only happened to airport
workers so far) and stop you from working for 2 weeks. They have threatened
to pull them from private pilots/aircraft owners as well. If we were talking
Sydney International perhaps I could understand but...

They have also just invoked a new raft of fees here. Min landing fees are
$22/month – even if the aircraft stays put. If you need to access an
aircraft between 7pm – 7.30am and don’t have a pass to get through the
security gate (visitors don’t) the fee is $266 for a ‘Sheriff’ (ie airport
groundsman) to come let you through! Outside those hours it is only a mere
$66

Michael

If I had anything to do to do with it you would “Go to jail”, and you
certainly would not pass “Go”.

What if I continue with my expired ASIC? Will I have to got jail? My old
photo is a reasonable likeness, and I haven't been arrested in the past
year. What's the risk?

No Greg,

you have to download the renewal form from CASA , get new ID photos and make
sure you fill out the last page , the Commonwealth Police check, as it has
to be done again. It will eventually arrive via registered post not at
Brisbane Airport like our first ASIC did.

Your AVID lasts for five years( I think)

My ASIC card is up for renewal this December.

Does anybody have experience with renewing their ASIC card?

Will they automatically send out forms to renew or do I have to chase it up
myself?

Thanks

Greg Manzie

Subject: Red Bull Air Race

Hello All,

At the Queensland meet, I invited people to come to my place to see the Red
Bull AIr Race to be held on November 3 & 4 , 2007. My unit overlooks the
river and the race, so it is an excellent opportunity.

Please let me know if you would prefer to attend Saturday or Sunday. I
might have to restrict attendance, if it is too popular! Parking
restrictions will be in place, so you will need to park south of Angelo
Street.

For out of town visitors I will have hangar space for two aircraft at
Serpentine. The SABC will allow other aircraft, but you will need to apply
with aircraft type, dates and phone number. Let me know, and I will apply
for you.

Please come after 10.30 am. Bring Drinks, a small piece of meat and desert,
as you wish. ( I have a very small electric barbeque). I will provide
salads and stuff.

Please reply with your preferred date and aircrafy details.

Hoping to see you!
