Steve
With my new Garmin audio panel, apparently if it fails the audio panel is
bypassed and the radio transmissions default to Com 1.
Maybe thats why ATC were telling you that you were trying to turn on the
lights on their frequency

YES
Brigid said to me this morning "WHAT IF" and I said we would have had to
turn transponder to emergency and go to the nearest lighted airport -
probably Brisbane
That would have been a potentially dangerous thing to do but there would be
no possiblitity landing without lighting - certainly not Roma
Brigid was not impressed with my answer.
Thanks all for your feed back
Steve

Nice work Steve & Brigid
Good thing that one of the radios remained working. Would have been even
nastier landing at night without PAL and any coms.
Nice to meet you in the Whitsundays and look forward to more flyins.
Cheers
John& Lyn
