Gents,
when considering this ,dont forget the Mooney factory pilot who when tightening his turn to final at low speed ,autorotated to the vertical nose down attitude at 400' .A factory test pilot and a demonstration pilot both killed a couple of years ago,written up in the MAPA LOG.
tHEREFOR IS IS CRITICAL in a Mooney to keep SPEED and dont use Rudder

Don mentioned that Roger Weeks and I tried "the impossible turn" to determine the limit for a possible turn back. Remember, it is not simply a 180 turn - but to get back to the runway it takes a 180 plus two 45's (at least) to line up with the departure runway.Roger and I practiced this with the intent of including the exercise in the PPP. We did so- way back then- But what has happened since then. Has it been left out of the course? If so......PITY!
