Brian has indicated he is currently under the pump, so I am trying to put together the key elements of a submission form AMPA in response to the Fed Govt white paperHi Andrew,
Would you please send me your private email address? I've composed something I'd rather pass along directly to you for the white paper submission.
Thanks,

Subject: [Oz-mooney] AMPA White Paper Submission
Brian has indicated he is currently under the pump, so I am trying to put together the key elements of a submission form AMPA in response to the Fed Govt white paper. Any further contributions would be appreciated - I note that Tony, Keith & Peter offered to assist!
I have gone back over the emails ref. the whitepaper and tried to glean the key points from our association pilots perspective. These are (Some repetition);
a.. We need to point out that GA is not just the incubator for commercial pilot development. GA is an important component in economic activity in its own right.
b.. As a snap shot of GA in Australia, a significant number of Mooney pilots use their planes for business. The activities include; Provision of medical services (including Angle Flight to remote families), services (e.g. engineering) to mining and agriculture, education
c.. I would like to detail this snapshot in our submission. Would people agree and could someone give me details of our membership and categorise where members use their plane for business activities?
d.. It is important to recognise that much of our country is not well serviced by RPT - e.g. for example you'll be waiting a long time for the next direct flight form Hay to Moree or even Toowoomba to Ballina
e.. Catching an RPT flight is not always efficient - e.g. timing is not always suitable and frequency of flights to more remote areas is a problem.
f.. The levels of bureaucracy is suffocating - can we have examples please?
g.. A comparison with GA activity in the US is relevant - Peter could you please elaborate on your experience?
h.. We note that the lack of VHF radio is a real problem - requiring expensive, ice collecting and speed reducing HF equipment to operate IFR ( I note that there is a recent AIC re. Sat phones - Paul can you summarise what it really means?)
i.. The lack of modern equipment/infrastructure upgrade (eg SBAS, sat based weather updates such as XM Sat in the US - great system!) is compromising safety and limiting GA activity
j.. Providing access the military infrastructure (e.g. Nowra, Williamtown & there may be others) to GA will unlock significant potential.
k.. The attitude of regulators seems to be that GA is a necessary evil rather than one of how can we assist in growing this sector - once again the Australia vs US example.
l.. Australia is made for GA - Long distances, sparse populations, significant activity in remote areas (agriculture, mining), terrain, weather etc.
m.. A lot of infrastructure is not well suited to efficient operation (e.g quality of strips for our fast/efficient Mooney's, Availability of approaches, lighting, VHF etc)
Regards
Andrew Kotzur
